Award-winning movie features GEC’s Dr. Mark Nelson

Winner of the 2024 Accolade Global Film Competition Grand Prize Humanitarian Award!

Global Ecotechnics Corporation (GEC) proudly celebrates the outstanding achievement of Our Blue World: A Water Odyssey, winner of the Grand Prize Humanitarian Award at the 2024 Accolade Global Film Competition. This prestigious award honors cinematic works of exceptional quality that make a meaningful contribution to humanitarian causes and global sustainability.

Directed by Ruan Magan and narrated by Oscar nominee Liam Neeson, this powerful documentary takes viewers on a sweeping, transcontinental journey exploring humanity’s sacred, precarious, and transformative relationship with water. From the ancient amunas of the Andes to sponge cities in China and solar aquifers in Burundi, Our Blue World weaves together ancestral water knowledge and contemporary innovations—showcasing the pathways through which communities worldwide are protecting and restoring the planet’s hydrological balance.

We at GEC are especially proud of Dr. Mark Nelson, officer of Global Ecotechnics, who appears in the film sharing pivotal insights from two of the world’s most forward-thinking ecological engineering initiatives: Biosphere 2, the pioneering closed ecological system in Arizona, and the Eden in Iraq Wastewater Garden Project, a regenerative design in the Mesopotamian marshlands. These projects exemplify the ecotechnics ethos—applying ecological design, cultural awareness, and technological innovation to create resilient systems for the future.

Produced by the creators of Brave Blue World (currently streaming on Netflix), Our Blue World expands the narrative: water is not merely a resource—it is a spiritual and cultural force, deeply entwined with human survival and creativity. As Liam Neeson notes in the film, “It’s incredible—they had it all figured out. We’re just rediscovering the water wisdom of our ancestors.”

Launched globally on Earth Day 2024, the film premiered in New York City and has since been screened in Brussels, Edinburgh, Melbourne, Singapore, and other international venues. Its ongoing impact campaign, supported by a coalition of global leaders in water sustainability—including Water.org, WWF, the Water Environment Federation, Sciens Water, Grundfos, Procter & Gamble, and AB InBev—continues to raise awareness and inspire solutions.

From solar-powered pumps in Africa to urban green infrastructure in Asia, Our Blue World is more than a film—it’s a movement and a call to action. It reminds us that the solutions we seek often lie at the intersection of ancient wisdom and modern science.
